PRESSFinal report STALLIONS 2007, 22/03/2007
Top grades for the best of stallions 2007 - More than 5,000 visitors came to see the stallion show at EQUITANA
What a great evening, what beauties of the warmblod breeding, what a marvellous scenery: more than 70 top sires from more than 40 studs brilliantly presented in the big arena of EQUITANA elicited thunderous applause from more than 5,000 breeders and breeding interested people. STALLIONS 2007 was a great success for the initiators Volker Raulf and the head of EQUITANA Christina Uetz. After the successful premiere in 2005 this event definitely will continue to be part of EQUITANA in the future. Breeders and breeding interested people will owe it to them because the breeding show STALLIONS has given another good reason for visiting EQUITANA in Essen.
Breeding means thinking in generations: thus, the breeding main idea of this year’s breeding show STALLIONS 2007 was “relatives and neighbours” presenting bloodlines of top sires in about 15 scenes. The spirit of Donnerhall reigned in the arena when his sons, grandsons, great-grandsons and great-great-grandsons from nine studs honoured their first ancestor, the emotional breeder Otto Gärtner and “the eye” Bernd Eylers.
It was not the first time that people caught their breath: the 60 x 20 meter arena at EQUITANA was filled with awesome silence when the 83 year old Rhenish veteran Peter Schweimanns entered the arena with his 19 year old Rocket Star. Moments like this varying between impressive choreography and factual presentation captivate the audience. Also Franke Sloothaak felt this magic mood when he presented the successful Baden-Württemberg show jumping and dressage stallion Cyrano de Bergerac telling of his emotionally touching history via headphone. With additional performances e.g. of Isabell Werth with “her” Fuchsberger (stallion station Schult) and Ingrid Klimke with the double world champion Damon Hill the show fascinated with clever changing pace and glamour without ending in itself. That’s STALLION 2007 lives on.
Of course, such a show cannot be done without top ponies. There are two names which are to be mentioned in this context: Bönniger stud who presented Golden Dancer and three of his sons as well as Ferienhof Stücker setting the dot on the I with their stallion FS Don’t worry and 24 licensed sons and champions honouring their sire and their still fascinating grand-dam Golden Sunlight.
The national stud in Warendorf presented a sire from „Ehrentusch“, Vorwerk stud together with Seifert stud showed the bloodline of Rohdiamant. Impressive moments and another kind of family relations could be experienced when Gerd Sosath together with his daughter Jane and his son Hendrik entered the arena presenting sires from their famous stallion station. And there were also international family ties: the 20 years old Belgium sire Karakondo from the Swiss State Stud of Avenches, his son Karondo (breeding world champion in 2005) from the Swiss stud Schlösslihof and two of his licensed sons visibly demonstrated breeding progress by three generations.
It was an emotional evening filled with breeding expert knowledge and
presented again by Volker Raulf and Stefan Krawczyk. An evening which
brought together what belongs together. The audience expressed their enthusiasm
with top grades: more than 97 per cent of the interviewees marked the
stallion show with “excellent” and “good”. We
are looking forward to 2009 and STALLIONS 2009 on EQUITANA’s breeding
day. Download
